Operation Nemesis is a Meta Campaign
for Combat Mission Shock Force, simulating a hypothetical invasion of
Syria by coalition forces in 2008.
Soo... what's a meta campaign?
A Combat Mission Meta Campaign puts the CM battles in an operational
context for the players - you and your team mates will fight Combat
Mission games against live opponents and the results of these battles
will affect the Campaign at the operational level. Winning "your"
battle at any cost is not what it's about!
Your team will have a team leader who gives you orders to be carried
out and plans the operations.
Operation Nemesis differs from previous MCs in that it has the complementary
way of resolving battle situations at the operational level - called
OPRES.

The meta campaign
is fought between two teams of players, the red side (REDFOR) and the
blue side (BLUFOR). Each team has a maximum of 20 players. There is
however no need for that many players to keep the MC running. To keep
the MC running there will have to be at least 5 players in each team.
For how long will the Campaign go on?
Operation Nemesis will have a set length of 12
Campaign Days, equalling 12
seven weeks strategic turns (STRATturn) - 3 weeks of OPturn + 4 weeks
of TACturn (check the MC Calendar for a dummy STRATturn).
During this time both sides will be able to collect Strategic Victory
Points - SVPs - by winning battles, controlling positions on the Operational
Map and by making the right operational decisions.
The SVP conditions are assymetrical - meaning that the same kind of
event will affect the opposing sides differently. Losing 10 men in a
battle does not have the same consequences for the red side as for the
blue.
The side that has most SVPs at the end of the 12 Campaign Days will
be the winner. If the Strategic Victory Point limit is reached by either
side the MC will end prior to the set date.
In short; the BLUFOR priority should be to end the campaign as soon
as possible and with as few casualities as possible, REDFOR would benefit
from bogging down the Blue side and causing maximum casualities.

Ok, I'm interested - how do
I join up?
Head over to this
part of the forum and sign up. You may choose to join as a MC member
and decide later on which side to play for - however once you've chosen
side you can't change sides.
After joining one of the teams you'll be able to access restricted parts
of the forum where you may choose a unit to command and get additional
information.
Development
Operation Nemesis is still in development. No
start date is set at the moment (as of August 2010). It will start some
time after the release of the NATO module for CMSF - ORBATs, counters
and TO&Es will have to be updated first. You're able to follow the
development via the Dev Blog.
What do I need to take part?
As a TACCO You need the latest version of CMSF and an internet connection.
As an OPCO You need the Campaign Tool (free download), but you will
not need CMSF at all!
Operation Nemesis will include the Marines, British and NATO modules. The
Campaign will also include the US IBCT TO&E that ships with the
British module.
As a TACCO it's not necessary to have all of the modules - however it's
desirable that You do, since it will make things easier fo everyone.
It will be up to your superior commander/team leader to manage team
players and assign units and battle situations to match the players
modules.

Disclaimer
Operation Nemesis aims to provide an operational context to Combat Mission
(CM) battles and has three priorities; to be fun, to abstractly portray
a contemporary warfare situation and to maintain a manageable complexity
at the administrative and operational level.
Operation Nemesis do not by any means endorse the use of military violence
to solve international conflicts and do not wage for a war between Syria
and the NATO countries. OPNEM is a strictly hypothetical wargaming simulation.
Welcome to join this campaign!
Haven't got Combat Mission Shock Force?
You may download a demo of the latest version of the game here.

Be advised, CMSF 1.21 has come a long way from the initial problem-ridden
version. The game has continously evolved into a true masterpiece of
tactical wargaming through the dedicated work of BFC.
